Becoming A Member

Interested in Becoming a Member?

The process is easy

1. Faith in Christ – Membership at St. James is open to anyone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and made a commitment to his Lordship over their lives.

2. Baptism – Trusting in Jesus alone is what saves you but we believe that the Bible has clear instructions about Baptism by immersion.

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.

If you have questions about salvation and baptism, we’ll be happy to answer them.

3. During most of our morning worship services, you’ll hear Pastor Keith extend an invitation to join the church. Come on down, share your story with him, and the church will receive you into the fellowship of Jesus followers.

4. Transfer Letter – If you have been a member of a congregation of like-faith and practice, and have been baptized by immersion as a believer, then St. James is pleased to receive you into the fellowship of Jesus followers.
